David J. Addley, D.O.

Dr. Addley was born in the Bronx of New York City. He
was later raised in Newark, Delaware from the age of
twelve. For as long as he can remember he wanted to be a physician. His road to successfully obtaining that goal was
a non-traditional one. He first obtained an Associate’s
Degree in Respiratory care.

While working as a Respiratory Therapist he was driven
to completing a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, from
Widener University, in two years before starting medical
school at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM). While at PCOM he met and married his wife,
Dr. Joan Addley. They graduated from PCOM in 1996.
Dr. David Addley completed his Internal Medicine
residency at PCOM in 1999. He then relocated to
Washington, D.C. where he completed his Cardiology Fellowship in 2002 at Howard University Hospital. After deciding to join Cardiology Medical Associates, P.C. Dr. Addley returned to Philadelphia. He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association and Association of
Black Cardiologists.

He spends many hours each week instructing and
mentoring Internal Medicine residents at Mercy Hospital
of Philadelphia and Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital. Dr.
Addley holds interest outside of medicine. He is a third
degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and has been involved
in the art for over 20 years. He enjoys drawing and
painting.

He has also published his first novel, Sword of Blackfire,
in February of 2003 and intends to publish several more.
Dr. Addley believes that educating patients about their
disease process is of the utmost importance, so that they
may be equipped to control their disease and prevent
development of disease.
